The Gary Muslim Center began as part of a national movement led by Imam W.D. Muhammad, who transformed the Nation of Islam into a universal expression of faith that welcomes all people. His vision inspired communities across the country to embrace Islam as both a spiritual journey and a way to uplift society.

Our community continues this proud legacy, rooted in faith, education, and social justice. From the early pioneers who laid the foundation to today’s leaders, we strive to meet the spiritual and everyday needs of our people.
